Avakash (Akoo) Patel is a senior executive with over 30 years of experience in mining operations, capital projects, EPC/EPCM services, and advisory consulting. He is the CEO and President of Humilis Pensar Associates Inc., a technical mining advisory firm.
With a broad technical background, Akoo has held leadership roles such as CEO, President and General Manager. His career is built on expertise in technical design, leadership, governance, quality, compliance, ESG, and business growth. Previously, he served as President of RPM Global Advisory Americas Inc., overseeing the mining advisory business. The company performed project studies, public reporting (including Mineral Resources and Reserves), and independent technical due diligence for mining M&A and project financing.
Before joining RPM Global, Akoo served as Vice President of Metallurgy and Processing at RPA Inc., another mining advisory firm, where he led technical and strategic advisory services for a wide range of mining projects and clients. He also worked as part of the corporate technical services team at various mining companies, contributing to large-scale mining projects, operations, and corporate initiatives.
Akoo has worked in operations at junior and major mining companies globally and was the General Manager for a heavy industry construction company in the USA. He has led and participated in multi-billion-dollar projects and studies with major EPCM firms across five continents.
A licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario Canada, Akoo is a graduate of the University of Regina. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and has served on the board of the National Mining Association.
